Raven Rocks unique natural beauty has played host to a long history of human activity, going back to ceremonial use during the Late Woodland period (CE 860 to 1000), continuing through hoopskirted picnickers in the 1800s, and efforts at commercial recreation in the 1900s. When the members purchased Raven Rocks in 1970, they knew they wanted to keep this special place open to the public and shared by the community. As such, the members built and maintain a parking area, stairs, and limited hiking trails to allow access to the natural wonder of the streams, ravines, fields, and forests. Additional amenities, such as picnic tables and a porta john, are available when made possible by volunteers and donations.

All are welcome to enjoy Raven Rocks free of charge, including 2 miles of established out-and-back hiking trails, but please be mindful of the following rules to allow the property to stay open to the public well into the future:

  • Open sunrise to sunset
  • Respect natural areas, do not alter or remove plants or wildlife
  • All refuse carried in must be carried out
  • Dogs must be under control, and owners must pick up after dogs
  • No motorized vehicles or recreational horseback riding*
  • No camping or open fires
  • No firearms or hunting

*You are welcome to park a motorized vehicle or horse at the parking area. 

All who use the property do so at their own risk. Please be aware that portions of the property are unlikely to have cell phone reception and plan accordingly. Enjoy the visit!

Private Residences and Locust Hill

The residences at Raven Rocks and the Locust Hill project are privately occupied and not made generally available to the public. However, tours can be arranged by contacting us.
